ABOUT THE MARKET:

Started in 2013, the Argyle Night Market is an annual event that features food from local Argyle restaurants plus live cultural and musical performances on Thursday evenings each summer. This free outdoor event draws an average of 3,000 – 5,000 visitors each week and continues to grow in popularity. Part market, part street festival, this vibrant and award-winning event is located on Argyle, the city’s first shared street. This event is hosted by Uptown United and the 48th Ward office, in partnership with the 20th District of the Chicago Police Department.

In addition to the delicious Asian street food that can be found at the night market, a highlight for our guests is the live cultural and musical performances being offered weekly. In partnership with Elastic Arts, we are able to bring live music, dance, and the arts to Uptown so that all are able to participate as audience or performers without regard to economic status. As this is a free event, our goal is to make sure that people from every race and from every socioeconomic background feel welcome at the market. This partnership allows us to support a number of established artists who perform as headliners each night as well as performers from the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community including Japanese taiko drummers, Balinese Gamelan performers, Vietnamese lion dancers, Pacific Islander musicians, and youth circus performers!
