Arthur Erickson: Beauty Between the Lines

The Chicago Architecture Center (CAC) is proud to announce the third annual Chicago iteration of Architecture & Design Film Festival (ADFF: CHICAGO), set to take place from January 29 to February 2, 2025.

DIFFA Chicago community members can use code ADFF25FRIEND for a special rate on screenings and events.

Co-curated by the CAC, this year’s ADFF: CHICAGO schedule will feature a dynamic lineup of 13 feature-length films, all focused on architects and designers who have shaped the cities and spaces in which we live. Screenings will be hosted at the Chicago Cultural Center and the Gene Siskel Film Center.

In addition to film screenings, the CAC will host programming that features conversations with filmmakers and major players in Chicago’s architecture scene, providing opportunities for deeper engagement with the topics explored in the films.

While the discount is applicable to all of the festival’s screenings (minus the opening event on January 29), DIFFA Chicago community members may be particularly interested in attending the screening of Arthur Erickson: Beauty Between the Lines.

Arthur Erickson: Beauty Between the Lines delves into the life and work of Arthur Erickson, a visionary architect first in Canada and ultimately throughout the world. With intimate interviews, unseen archival footage, and an exploration of his architectural masterpieces, the film weaves together the complexities of Erickson’s personal and professional life. It reveals a man who hid his identity from a harshly homophobic world and who fused art, culture, and nature in his work, and in the process, redefined modern architecture.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A discussion with the filmmakers.
