Uptown Saturday Nights: Salsa in the Park

UPTOWN SATURDAY NIGHTS returns with Salsa in the Park  on Saturday, June 1 at Buttercup Park (6-9pm)!  To celebrate the arrival of warmer weather, we are thrilled to host Afinca'o and the Dance Academy of Salsa for a special night of dancing and live music!  

Come for the dancing and FREE instructional lessons, or simply sit back and enjoy the music.  Salsa lessons provided by the Dance Academy of Salsa.

Afinca’o is an emerging group of passionate and experienced musicians from the Chicagoland area. Staying true to their roots, the Spanish meaning of their name, Afinca’o was created to bring together some of Chicago’s most musically sound and talented musicians. Though diverse in their musical repertoire, Afinca’o is most noted for their Salsa, Cha-Cha, Latin Jazz, and even some Merengue performances. Adding to the group’s appeal, each of the members have played with world-renowned Latin recording artists, including Gilberto Santa Rosa, Luis Enrique, Victor Manuelle, N’Klabe, Frankie Negron, Eddie Santiago, and many more, all of which help cement the group’s reputable experience. Afinca’o performs for all types of venues and events, so long as they are able to share their spirit and passion for music with all those willing to listen…and dance!

Bring your own chair or blanket for seating.   Picnics welcome!   No grills or alcohol will be allowed. 

PARKING:  Metered street parking available along Sheridan Avenue.  Public transportation - Red Line (Argyle Station) or bus routes #36, #146, #151.  

MAKE A DAY OF IT IN UPTOWN!  FREE Walking Tours of  Uptown Square will be available on Saturday, June 1!  Tours leave from Provisions Uptown (4812 N.  Broadway) at 1pm and 2pm.  No need to RSVP - just show up and enjoy (rain or shine)!
