Chicago, IL — October 14, 2025 — HAIBAYÔ proudly announces the Grand Opening of
HAIBAYÔ Café, a new community-centered café and creative hub located at 1132 W Argyle
Street in Uptown Chicago. The celebration will take place on Saturday, October 18, 2025, and
Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day.
The weekend-long opening will feature live DJs, local artists, craft vendors, and Asian street
food pop-ups, bringing together residents, artists, entrepreneurs, and visitors from across the
city to celebrate the cultural vibrancy of Chicago’s historic Asia on Argyle corridor.
HAIBAYÔ Café is the business arm of HAIBAYÔ, a cultural arts and preservation organization
dedicated to uplifting AANHPI (Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander)
creativity and entrepreneurship. Rooted in collaboration, cultural storytelling, and community
building, HAIBAYÔ’s mission is to preserve and celebrate the heritage of Asia on Argyle while
creating pathways for new generations of cultural leaders and creative entrepreneurs.
The café will serve as both a culinary destination and a cultural anchor, offering locally roasted
coffee, Asian-inspired beverages, and rotating menu collaborations with local food makers.
Beyond its menu, HAIBAYÔ Café is designed as a platform for creative expression—hosting
pop-ups, art installations, and workshops that highlight the diversity and talent of AANHPI and
BIPOC artists and entrepreneurs.
The Grand Opening Weekend will feature a vibrant lineup of activities that reflect the spirit of
HAIBAYÔ’s mission: Live DJ performances showcasing local AANHPI and BIPOC talent
throughout the day. Art and craft vendors offering handmade goods, prints, and community based creative works. Food pop-ups with Asian-inspired treats and specialty drinks curated by
emerging culinary entrepreneurs. Interactive cultural displays sharing stories from Uptown’s
Asia on Argyle neighborhood and HAIBAYÔ’s ongoing cultural preservation projects.
City officials, community leaders, and members of the media are warmly invited to join in the
festivities and witness this milestone moment for Uptown’s cultural and commercial landscape.
The launch of HAIBAYÔ Café marks a new phase in HAIBAYÔ’s ongoing work to nurture a
thriving ecosystem of creativity and entrepreneurship that sustains both cultural legacy and
economic vitality. The space represents a bridge between culture and commerce, offering a
tangible model of how small businesses and arts organizations can collaborate to strengthen
neighborhood identity and resilience.
Over the past seven years, HAIBAYÔ has been deeply involved in community-led cultural
programming, from street activations and art exhibits to food ethnography projects and
creative entrepreneurship initiatives. Through its programs, HAIBAYÔ continues to honor the
rich tapestry of immigrant and refugee stories that define Asia on Argyle, ensuring they remain
visible, celebrated, and connected to the future. “Argyle has always been a place of resilience
and reinvention,” said Tran. “Our goal is to keep that spirit alive by creating opportunities for
artists, entrepreneurs, and neighbors to collaborate and shape the next chapter of this
community together.”
